Who am I and Why Should You Consider Gorge Bike Fitter?

It’s pretty simple really. I am passionate about bikes and I want everyone to love riding as much as I do. Here’s the bonus, I’m a physiotherapist (physical therapist) with a special interest in biomechanics, especially when those biomechanics pertain to cycling.

I graduated with distinction from the Physiotherapy Program at the University of Alberta in Edmonton, Canada in 1995. I practiced physiotherapy in Canada for 11 years before moving to The Gorge in the spring of 2006. I worked as a Physical Therapist at Tim Foley Physical Therapy from 2006 to July of 2017. My time in the Columbia River Gorge allowed me to hone my skills in working with athletes of various levels from recreational to professional. I have studied extensively in the areas of biomechanics, sports injuries, running mechanics, bike fitting and I am an advanced orthopedic manipulative therapist. My clients have ranged in age from 6 years old to 102 years young.

I started triathlon racing in 1995. Prior to this I was a runner and mountain biker. I have completed many sprint and Olympic distance triathlons, I have more than a dozen half Ironman finishes to my credit and 4 Ironman finishes, 3 at Ironman Canada including a division win in 2007. In more recent years my competitive focus has been on cycling, including road racing, cyclocross and endurance mountain biking. I finished 53rd overall at TransPortugal 2013, a 9 day, greater than 700 mile off-road race. My proudest moment at that race was receiving the nickname of “Queen of the Cobbles”.  I was sidelined for health reasons in the last 4 years but was recently able to complete the Dodge City X, Canada’s toughest off road triathlon! Super stoked.

I am currently working as a consultant at Comox Physiotherapy on Vancouver Island.  I have a side company working as a triathlon/running/cycling coach which I established in 2008. My passion for cycling has led me to pursue extensive education in coaching and bike fitting. I completed the Gold level certification at Bike PT in November 2013 and the new Bike PT mountain bike immersive course in October 2018.

I have a diverse and extensive physical therapy and cycling background that gives me biomechanical and real world expertise that no bike shop fitter or computer program can match.
